Presentation Title:

"Boomerang" technique for female genital cosmetic surgery

Abstract

Introduction: Labia minora hypertrophy combined with redundant clitoral hood is a common complaint among women seeking cosmetic genital surgery for functional, psychological, and aesthetic complaints. The purpose of this study was to describe the "Boomerang" technique, a surgical treatment of labial hypertrophy that extends to the whole clitoral hood.

Methods: A retrospective analytical study was conducted on medical records to evaluate 48 consecutive patients submitted to female genital cosmetic surgery between July 2017 and July 2021. All surgical procedures were performed by the same surgeon.

Results: The mean age of patients was 36.25 years old (range 18–59 years), 94.44% had aesthetic complaints either associated or not with functional complaints, and 5.56% had only functional complaints. Two patients presented bruises on the labia majora on the immediate postoperative, and one had suture dehiscence in the labia minora.

Conclusion: The "Boomerang" technique is reproducible and provides aesthetic and functional benefits in the female genitalia.
